While preparing for her late husbandʼs second death anniversary, an older Vietnamese immigrant woman starts fantasizing about a handsome younger man whom she sees at a local Asian supermarket, while keeping it secret from her only daughter. After a big argument with her daughter on the anniversary day, the woman goes back to the supermarket to find solace in the connection with the man, not knowing that this time she is followed by her daughter. In the finale sequence, accumulated tensions explode to a dramatic yet hilarious confrontation between the three of them, creating room for reconciliation and making the woman realize what she truly wants for her new life in America.

While preparing for her husband’s death anniversary, an immigrant Vietnamese mother and her Americanized adult daughter butt heads and inadvertently drag a handsome stranger from the local Asian market into their messy family dynamic.

Adam Song, a college dropout who left school to pursue music full-time, goes broke and is forced to return home to San Diego and live with his immigrant father, Edward. His job? Serving “Wok-o-Taco” at his father’s Chinese-Mexican fusion restaurant. The monotony of home life sends Adam in a downward spiral, but his dream of being an artist persists. Now, Adam nears the release of his newest EP, “Boyhood,” the project he believes will break him free of San Diego and launch him into the stratosphere. Above all else, this moment is paramount to whether Adam can make something of himself, and prove to everyone - especially his father - that he is not a failure.

This narrated tale opens on nine-year-old Jelly Johnson, a young girl in Brooklyn with a peculiar fascination with death. When she overhears about the mysterious disappearance of her upstairs neighbor, a transfixed Jelly sets out to "solve the case". With her young cousins in tow, she launches an investigation and ultimately gets an answer to an unsolved mystery of her own.
