Roshni's world begins to crumble when she discovers an itchy, embarrassing secret: lice. Fearing social exile, she forms a desperate and deceptive pact with Chakor, the ostracized girl in her class. As they navigate this shared struggle, a fragile trust blossoms between them, offering both a sense of solace and companionship. However, the lie that binds them starts to fester, threatening not only their newfound friendship but also Roshni's carefully curated image. As the secret grows harder to contain, Roshni must confront the consequences of her choices and the true meaning of friendship.

12-year-old Roshni forges a bond with the class outcast, Chakor, to keep her lice infestation a secret. The malicious lie looms large over Roshni as a real friendship blossoms between them.

While roaming around the local neighbourhood, a drone stumbles upon a woman standing too close to the edge of a pool, a weight tied around her waist, preparing to jump. Startled to see the drone’s camera pointing right at her, the woman refuses to take her life on film. Instead she decides she’ll just have to wait for the drone to die first. But as she waits and the drone watches, an unlikely companionship is formed.

Struck with nostalgia for his childhood, a recent college graduate returns to his old elementary school. As he journeys further into the school, he finds that he's not alone. "Stay Out of the Sun" delves into the pervasive yet often overlooked issue of colorism within our communities. Through testimonies of people of color of varying ages, occupations, and locations in the United States, the documentary explores the impacts of colorism on self-esteem and identity in just 15 minutes. Notable figures such as Celeste Crenshaw, producer of BET, social activist Seema Hari, and colorism educator Jyoti Gupta, shed light on how colorism intersects with systemic racism, gender inequality, and beauty standards. As the film progresses, viewers are challenged to confront their own prejudices and encouraged to unpack how they've been taught to perceive lightness as good and darkness as bad. "Stay Out of the Sun" offers an opportunity for introspection and empathy.
