Director Jude Hope Harris recreates the time her brother and girlfriend first met in this autobiographical dramedy where her family plays versions of themselves. Sophie arrives home from 10 hours of facial feminization surgery in a haze of pain and anesthesia. Waiting for her are Morgan, her queer actor girlfriend, and Randy, her country singer brother – both just starting to get to know each other. As Sophie recovers, Morgan and Randy unite against a tragically unhelpful home nurse Donna, their common enemy on a difficult night made bearable with humor, love, music, and weed.

Funny Face

When country singer, Randy travels to take care of his sister Sophie as she recovers from facial feminization surgery, he meets her girlfriend, Morgan, for the first time. The three bond over family history, love, and an extremely chaotic home nurse.

On the way to his daughter’s birthday party, Phil accidentally hits a wiener-dog crossing the street, and is forced to hide the dog’s body in a gift box to cover up his vehicular manslaughter. He then discovers that not only is the birthday party a wiener-dog themed tribute to the aforementioned dead dog, named Noodles, but Noodles is his ex-wife’s and fiancé's new dog. After being dominated and humiliated by the new fiancé, Phil attempts to flee the scene, but is stopped by the town’s Mayor- who drags him back into the party and calls for a celebration to honor the “Oldest dog in the county”. As Phil turns to leave yet again, he is stopped by his daughter, who aggressively tussles with him to open her “gift”. Meanwhile, the crowd begins to chant “Noodles Forever!”, just as the fiancé starts to choke on a hot dog. Phil, still wrestling with his daughter, is the only person to see this happen, and decides to let go of the box to perform the Heimlich maneuver on the fiancé. As the hot dog flies from his mouth, Phil’s daughter opens the box, screaming at the sight of her dead dog. However, Noodles is resurrected by the chaos, opening his eyes and howling at the crowd. He then leaps out of the box, and is lifted into the air by the new fiancé, before being worshipped as a deity by the crowd, who surround him and Phil. Phil makes his way to his ex-wife, who reveals that she left the gate open and was sure that Noodles had been hit by a car. Phil tells her that Noodles was hit- by him. The two hug, and Phil and his daughter share one last moment before he leaves the party for good.

Summer is over. At the combo hot dog stand boat rental shop, Lane hopes to wait out her shift by getting high and avoiding the rain. The arrival of a flirty late-season boat renter, Cara, throws her plans into chaos.

Eight-year-old Evie becomes obsessed with playing Holocaust after dressing up as her estranged grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, for "Heritage Day" at school. The film is laden with the comedic irony that Evie is recreating a world that everyone else is trying to forget. Evie's fixation with her discovered heritage and playing "Holocaust" looks mortifying to everyone else, and most of all her mother Sarah. Evie is at the age where her truth drives her actions, and her behavior makes her mother Sarah question herself as a parent, and then ultimately sympathize more with her own mom. Heritage Day is a film about three generations of women and tackles the topic of the Holocaust through a generational perspective and heartfelt humor. Inspired by a true event, this dark comedy explores the strife between mother and child, and how society reckons with its past.
